Vegan fashion: it’s all fun and games until your toes get chilly! Fortunately for the animals, synthetic materials are often more waterproof than leather, so it’s actually not too tough to find cruelty-free options. With outerwear companies spending more time and money on advancing thermal technology, it’s easier than ever to keep your feet warm and dry without harming animals. Below are some of my top picks for men and women!
*Note: Some companies are hesitant to claim any of their boots are vegan because they don’t know the breakdown of all glue/adhesive materials used by their manufacturers. I consider this to be a minimal risk, especially given how many adhesive companies have stopped using animal byproducts, so I have still included those options on this list.
*I do have affiliate relationships with some of the retailers listed in this post; if you make a purchase through my links, I may make a commission (at no extra cost to you). I donate 10% of any commissions to animal rescues!
Scandinavian fashion house Ilse Jacobsen offers a wide range of animal-friendly boots! While they’re labeled as rain boots, the cozy cotton fleece lining makes me think they’d also do pretty well on a mild snow day. Made with sustainably harvested rubber (no PVC!), these boots are described by the designer to contain “no animal byproducts”, which makes them extra exciting. Citizens of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden can order directly from Ilse Jacobsen, but international buyers should look to Nordstrom for the best selection.
Current prices range from $169 – $199 USD
Hunter rose to national popularity with their extremely durable, waterproof, and stylish rain boots, and now they have a snow boot to match! These boots are crafted to provide extra cold weather insulation without sacrificing comfort or aesthetics. This style is currently discounted by 30-50%, so be sure to grab them fast! Available at Hunter and Nordstrom.

Sorel is known for their high-quality, extremely warm boots, and fortunately they have a few vegan options. I happen to love this moonboot-style “Snowlion” boot the most! With a built in gaiter and barrel lock closure system, this boot has been approved for temperatures as low as -40° F! Grab it in white or black at Sorel or Amazon.
Current prices range from $90 – $120 USD
I absolutely love the aesthetic of these! Unlike some of the other options in this post, these boots are more designed for style than for rugged outdoor activities. These are for the compassionate fashionistas out there who want to stay warm without harming animals! Available at Moschino and Amazon.
Current prices range from $133 – $135
Columbia uses a wide range of materials, and quite a few of them are animal-friendly! The boots with OMNI-HEAT™ technology (using thermal warmth) seem to be the most vegan-friendly options, but don’t assume they’re all vegan without reading the materials list. My favorite of the vegan styles is this Minx boot, available in purple dahlia, shale, and black. Find them at Columbia or Amazon.
Current prices range from $62 – $120 USD
I absolutely love the style and functionality of these over the knee nylon boots! They use an EcoOrtholite high performance sock to provide sustainable warmth and comfort. Size availability seems to be a bit spotty, so if you see yours available, grab it fast because I don’t know if they’ll be restocked! Find it at Tretorn or Amazon.
Prices vary wildly on Amazon, but are currently $123.75 USD on Tretorn.
I’m a bit obsessed with these classic plaid boots; in fact, I’ll probably buy a pair before publishing this post! I love that Jambu specifically labels it as vegan, so you don’t have to waste time double and triple checking the description. They use partially recycled rubber, which makes them extra special! Available at Amazon and Jambu.
Current prices range from $47- $79 USD
Kamik makes quite a few animal-friendly boots, using nylon exteriors with a 100% recycled thermal guard lining to provide excellent protection from the cold. The drawstring snow collar provides an extra layer of protection from moisture, ensuring that your feet stay dry. Please note, many reviewers mentioned that the sizing runs small, so consider going a full size up when ordering. Available from Kamik and Amazon.

Like the women’s version, this hardy boot was built with an extra layer of neoprene insulation to protect your feet from the cold. Hunter emphasizes comfort and style, so you can look good and feel good. This style is currently on sale from 30-50% off, so grab yours before they’re gone! Grab them online at Hunter.

Yes, I’m including two Kamik styles, because they have a lot of great options! These Icebreaker boots come in black and army green (I personally like the contrasting colors on the green option), and they’re tested to keep you warm down to -40° F. Available at Kamik and Amazon.

Rated the #1 Winter Boot by Outside Magazine, these sturdy boots will let you stay comfortable in the cold for hours! My husband is currently on his second pair (the first didn’t fall apart, he just lost them) and he constantly recommends them to people. Available from BOGS and Amazon.
Current prices range from $140 – $160 USD
These don’t really have the height that standard snow boots have, but they kept coming up in my research and it seems people really love them! The Scotchgard coated exterior keeps feet nice and dry while cotton fleece lining keeps them comfy. Available at Native Shoes.
