Long time followers may recall that I’ve already written about the magic that is Brian Buckley, but it’s about time to share him with you again.  Not only is Brian a brilliant musician, vocalist and lyricist, but he is also one of the best people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.  He is one of my favorite people to introduce to my friends and family, because I love watching people consistently, without fail, fall in love with his energy.  

One his way out of a show last year, Brian was mugged.  The attackers held a knife to his neck and stole his beloved guitar.  Brian had two reactions of note.  First, he wrote a blog entry about his hopes that the instrument had ended up in a pawn shop to be purchased for a musically inclined child who otherwise may not have had the funds to buy such a majestic guitar.  Second, he wrote a song called, “My Friends,” about the overwhelming outpour of love and support given to him by his close friends and family (who pooled together enough money to buy him a new guitar).  My point is- Brian was able to turn even a violent loss into a source of art and inspiration.

It would be a true tragedy if I had all these things to say about a musician whose talents were only mediocre.  If I were writing about a friend who I felt obliged to publicize because he has been so good to me in the past.  Fortunately, Brian’s music is as unique, inspirational, brilliant, and FUN as his soul is.  Here, I’m posting, “Bye Blue Sky,” a single from his upcoming album.  I of course highly suggest you download the rest of his music (especially my personal favorite, Little Pieces, which was too large a file for tumblr to handle).  Also, if you are lucky enough to live in Los Angeles, you should try your best to make it out to his show on December 17 at The Mint.  His shows are SO much fun, as he is an exceptionally entertaining performer.  You truly feel like you are an active part of his musical genius and innovation when you are in his presence.
